This special coffee is grown in the Sierra Maestra mountains of Cuba. The region was notorious as a hotbed for guerilla warfare activity, but thankfully as times grew more peaceful the area managed to resume its coffee production and exportation.
Organic beans are grown and hand-picked by small farms accounting for the relatively small amount exported despite the demand. In a bygone era, pre-revolution, Cuba was a much larger exporter of coffeethan it is in the present day. In recent years a small quantity of only 8,000 tonnes are exported annually.
Cuban’s are renowned for having a penchant for strong and sweet cups of coffee known locally as “doppio con leche”. Thus the beans grown in Cubaare developed for those like minded individuals globally seeking a sweet and bold coffee. This is where Sierra Maestra delivers.
Well rounded richness imbuing a sweet biscuit flavour, the initial sips will be a transformative coffeeexperienc
